MLS Updates for Families 9/29/2020

Dear MLS Families,

It is hard to believe we are at the end of September! Virtual schooling is filled with incredible opportunities, as well as unique challenges. I have visited classes to see our students fully engaged in learning! Our fourth graders were solving for a rectangle area and were able to brainstorm three different mathematical solutions. Students are singing and dancing in music class, working out in PE, and connecting to real-life through our book studies (Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, The Crossover, and Playbook). Virtual learning is also uniquely challenging — many of you are working from home or on-site with multiple children learning from home. Please know we are here to support you. Below are updates to help you find answers to your questions and solutions to everyday challenges.

Back to School Night (BSN)
Join us for an informative session this Wednesday night from 6:30 – 7:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to meet our leadership team and learn about our academic, emotional, and behavioral support program. This live webinar will include a chat-in Q&A session. We would love to customize our BSN program — please click here to make us aware of comments, questions, concerns, and suggestions you would like us to address. The Zoom link will be sent out Wednesday shortly before the BSN meeting.

Family Technology Support
Miss Cass is here to help you learn more about our technology platforms. She has hosted three family tech sessions over the last few weeks. If you could not attend, please reach out to her at [email protected] to schedule a time to meet.

Student Coaches
We care about each student and want to make sure that we provide high-level individual support. The classroom coach will meet each day with your student to build a strong relationship, chat about the day, and complete a daily reflection that will be emailed to you.

Help Desk
Do you need immediate help? Can we point you in the right direction? Call Ms. Angie Henderson-Good, our new MLS receptionist, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, and she will make sure to help answer any questions or connect you to our staff. You can reach her at 267-607-3792.

MLS families, please know that we are here for you. Do not hesitate to reach out to me, Mr. Williams, or anyone on our core leadership team with any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions. For a full web directory, click here. As our journey continues, I am excited to see the fantastic things we will discover and the obstacles we will overcome together.

Respectfully,

Ms. Eva
